Today, I am in the public eye as a broadcaster. My work in radio allows me to attend public events, like concerts, as well as to meet new people from all over the world. Part of my job is doing in-depth interviews for my radio show, C.S.I. I get to travel a great deal, too. For a kid who was bullied, it is all reasonably remarkable. Just under 15,000 people in Mayo have received payments from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection in respect of their application for the Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment this week - with 533,000 people nationally receiving the payment.

Sinn Féin TD for Roscommon/Galway Claire Kerrane has said that the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment is discriminating against workers aged over 66 years, who are being denied the emergency payment.

Workers over the age of 66 should be made eligible for the Covid-19 unemployment payment and the acting Government must "stop discriminating" on the basis of age.
